What is Cover Me?

Cover Me is a Chrome extension that reads the job posting open in your browser on LinkedIn, Indeed, Greenhouse, Lever, Workday or Ashby, or takes pasted job text from any other site. It compares your resume against the posting and shows an ATS match score and the posting's keywords your resume is missing. The score is calculated from keyword matches, not guessed by the AI.

It then writes a resume tailored to that posting and a matching cover letter. A check runs on every tailored resume and removes any skill or claim your original resume doesn't support, so missing requirements appear as gaps instead of invented experience. Both documents can be edited and exported as PDFs, and your application history is saved.

The extension and backend are open source under the MIT license, and the backend can be self-hosted. It's free with your own Claude or OpenAI API key, with no account needed, and in that mode your resume goes only to the AI provider you choose. There's also a hosted free tier and a Pro plan for people without a key.
