What is ComboFix?
USE WITH CAUTION! Combofix is a freeware (a legitimate spyware remover created by sUBs), Combofix was designed to scan a computer for known malware, spyware (SurfSideKick, QooLogic, and Look2Me as well as any other combination of the mentioned spyware applications) and remove them.
ComboFix allows the manual removal of spyware infections. It's a specialized effective cleaning tool, which is useful compared to other malware and spyware removers. After Combofix is finished, a report will be created. You can use this report to search and remove infections which are not automatically removed.

Outside of Hitman Pro (old versions at least) and Herd Protect (you can't use it anymore) there aren't really alternatives to Combofix. Not really.

Combofix is considered a "Potentially Unwanted Application" or a "Hacktool" by most anti-malware scanners. If you notice, larger companies like Malwarebytes and Norton have already flagged the tool as being safe, because it is, under the direction of a professional.

Combofix and indeed, a lot of security software is going to show in antivirus scans. It is considered a Potentially unwanted application. It needs behave certain ways in order to remove embedded malware. ComboFix should never be used without the direction of a professional.
Unless you are using this under supervision (e.g. from forums like Bleeping Computer or MalwareBytes), do not use this software.

I am a computer tech and let me tell you a secret. This is one of the main tools in our arsenal for malware removal. It does a fantastic job. Like the disclaimer says, use with caution.
