What is CleanTake?

CleanTake is a free, open-source desktop application for repairing dialogue from simultaneous audio or video recordings of the same take.

Import a main recording and up to three backups, align their timing, and compare suggested replacements at the same timeline position. Repairs remain subject to review and acceptance. The repair inspector shows the saved source, original filename, project time range and corresponding recording time range beside the acceptance control. Unsaved changes are identified separately.

The application preserves original files and supports undo and redo. Export options include audio, aligned stems, a source map and an editable Reaper project that retains repair decisions.

Processing runs locally. Desktop downloads for macOS, Windows and supported Ubuntu systems include the processing tools and an offline sample. The sample contains a deliberately introduced gap in licensed recordings.

A repair requires usable audio from another simultaneous recording. Automatic suggestions can miss damage, and source changes need listening review. Outputs use a 48 kHz mono timeline.
