Chosen is described as 'JavaScript plugin that makes long, unwieldy select boxes much more user-friendly. It is currently available as both jQuery Prototype plug-ins and with forks for supporting MooTools and Drupal' and is an app in the development category. There are six alternatives to Chosen for Online / Web-based, jQuery, JavaScript, Mac and Windows. The best alternative is Selectize.js, which is both free and Open Source. Other great apps like Chosen are Tom Select, Select2, jQuery TokenInput and Bootstrap Multiselect.
