CheersCount is a drink tracker for people who drink and want to know what a night actually did, not just how many drinks they had. It isn't a sobriety or coaching app. You log drinks as you go or afterwards, and it estimates your blood alcohol curve with a pharmacokinetic model instead of a single formula.
What the estimate accounts for:
- Food: a logged meal slows absorption and lowers the estimated peak. Caloric drinks count as food too.
- Drink strength: absorption is fastest at around 22% ABV and slower for both beer and neat spirits.
- Your body: sex, height and weight (Seidl et al. 2000) set how far the alcohol is diluted.
- Your own elimination rate: if you own a breathalyzer, two readings at least 20 minutes apart on the way down give your personal rate, and later estimates use it.
- Uncertainty: individual results vary by roughly ±20-30%, so the curve shows a ±25% band instead of a precise-looking number.
It's an estimate, not a measurement, and it can't tell anyone whether they're fit or allowed to drive. If in doubt, don't drive. For adults only.
Beyond the curve:
- Every evening saved as a session, with monthly insights and a monthly and yearly recap
- Goals you set yourself per week or month: alcohol-free days, units or spending, with a review at the end. No points, no leaderboard, and nothing that improves by drinking more
- Hangouts: shared evenings with friends, including logging a round for the whole table and for friends who don't use the app
- Drink templates with size, ABV, price and calories, and barcode scanning to fill them in
- Logging works offline and syncs later
- JSON and CSV export
Free and Pro: logging, BAC estimates, the estimated sober time, history, insights, goals, hangouts, meal logging, calibration and export are free with no time limit, with up to five active drink templates. Pro adds the live curve chart while a night is still running, unlimited templates, custom icons, expense tracking and spending goals, community chat and stories. It costs from $2.99 a month, $22.99 a year or a one-time lifetime purchase, and prices vary by store and region. New profiles start with a 30-day Pro trial, and nothing is charged when it ends.
You can start without an account and move your data into one later with Google or an email code. Friends and hangouts need an account. Data is stored on self-hosted servers in the EU, there are no ads and no data is sold. Anonymous crash reports and usage analytics are on by default and can be switched off in Settings.
The website also has a free BAC calculator with food that runs the same model, no sign-up needed.
Built by one developer in Austria. Web app for any browser, including Safari on iPhone, and an Android app on Google Play.
