CheckThatPhone is a REST API that validates US and Canadian phone numbers in real time. One request returns the carrier (from live carrier data, not a static database), line type (mobile, landline, VoIP, toll-free), portability status with the LRN, deliverability and deactivation dates, an internal blacklist check, and a recommended action, so you don't have to write decision logic on top of raw fields. Pass the contact's IP address and the same call adds city-level location, the IANA timezone and UTC offset at no extra cost, which is what TCPA calling-hour rules actually depend on.
Compliance checks are built in rather than sold as separate products. The TCPA litigator scrub flags known serial plaintiffs before you call or text (one extra credit), the landline SMS check finds landlines that can receive texts (one extra credit, charged only when the number is a landline), and the state do-not-call registry and national complainer checks are free on every lookup.
Developers get a documented 32-field response, a public OpenAPI spec, official Node.js and Python SDKs, and a dashboard with API keys, usage charts and bulk CSV uploads for list cleaning. The free tier includes 500 lookups a month; paid plans run from $5 to $450 a month with included credits and per-lookup overage, and annual billing is 15% less.
