What is check-docs?

check-docs is a small shell pre-commit check that validates documentation references before commits. It checks nested CLAUDE.md, CLAUDE.local.md and AGENTS.md files, follows @imports up to four hops, resolves imports relative to the importing file, and checks paths against the Git index. It also catches unstaged instruction-file edits. The project is MIT licensed, uses standard Unix tools, and is tested on macOS and Ubuntu under sh, dash and bash.
