What is Capite?

Capite is a self-hosted, open-source video captioning studio built as a free alternative to Submagic, CapCut, and OpusClip. It transcribes video locally with faster-whisper (CTranslate2) to word-level, millisecond-accurate timestamps, and renders 27 caption presets across 7 animation engines, including Hormozi-style word highlights, MrBeast pop, Submagic bounce, and karaoke wipe. Includes a word-level transcript editor with click-to-seek playback, and re-renders edits in seconds without re-running transcription. Exports to MP4, SRT, VTT, TXT, and ASS. No watermark, no subscription, no cloud upload, everything runs on your own hardware.
