What is bringbackmaps?

Google had to remove the "Maps" tab from Google Search. This extension adds it back and also makes the map image container clickable, whenever a location-related search is detected.

Detecting a location-related search currently happens in two ways:

  • search query (can contain words like "address", "near me", etc), currently only english keywords are supported
  • certain elements that appear on the Google search results page that indicate that the result is a location.

This makes life a lot easier by adding the Maps button back to Google Maps and will save you a lot of time!

The extension is focused on privacy and simplicity - no data is collected, no data is sent anywhere. Everything stays in your browser - and if you don't believe me, it's open source!
