Next-gen page builder, all the way. There are great extensions to it as well. With Core Framework this is hands down THE best design experience I've had with WP in the last 15+ years.

I love how Bricks Builder gives me HTML level access to my website, without bogging me down in HTML code. It offers advanced layouts using CSS flexbox and grid, and you can even choose the element type of Bricks elements you use (like div or span).

Basic animations are easy to set up. If you only want an element shown to users under a certain condition, use a condition and that element won't even show up in the HTML until it should.
Plus you can put HTML, CSS, JavaScript, or PHP code right into the builder, and have it applied based on template conditions or page by page.
The best part about Bricks Builder is that you can suggest improvements, and the developers actually listen.
My only complaint is it isn't open source. But neither are most other paid page builders.
