Sites and apps similar to BoxCar 2D include Genetic Cars 2, which is free and open source. Other options are Cambrian Explosion, Biogenesis and Egg Worm Generator. In total there are four Simulation Games like BoxCar 2D for Windows, Mac and Linux.
The program uses a simple genetic algorithm to evolve random two-wheeled shapes into cars over generations. Loosely based on BoxCar2D, but written from scratch, only using the same physics engine (box2d).
The primary focus is to evolve locomotion in a variety of creatures using a genetic algorithm in a fun easily accessible simulation allowing to understand the fundamentals of evolution. Stay tuned. More to come :)
