Big Mean Folder Machine

Big Mean Folder Machine is a macOS utility for restructuring large file and folder collections in one controlled batch. It can take files from one or more source folders and create a new multi-level hierarchy using criteria such as filename, file type, creation or modification date, photo capture date from EXIF metadata, or embedded music metadata.

The application can also divide a collection into batch folders limited by either the number of files or total disk size. Its merge workflow consolidates files from multiple folders and nested folder structures into one destination, with configurable handling for duplicate filenames.

Before processing, Big Mean Folder Machine previews the folder structure it will create. Files are copied by default so the originals remain in place, while moving is available when required. Typical uses include organizing photo archives into Year/Month/Day folders, arranging music into Artist/Album hierarchies, splitting archives into manageable or media-sized batches, and flattening or consolidating project folders spread across multiple locations.
