What is Better Pop Up Blocker?
Better Pop Up Blocker improves the default pop up blockers for Google Chrome and Apple Safari by blocking pop up windows opened by javascript, & other annoyances like alert, prompt, and confirm boxes. These popups often occur when you simply click on what looks like blank space or text that shouldn't do anything, let alone annoy you with a pop up window.
Even the adblock extensions often let these pop up windows open! If you have an adblock extension, you will definitely also want Better Pop Up Blocker.
To use Better Pop Up Blocker, you simply install it and the url bar icon (a blue block) will show up. It will begin blocking pop ups on new pages immediately. You can also set Better Pop Up Blocker to blacklist mode, so that it only blocks popups on websites that you specify.
Comments and Reviews
Compared to Firefox, Chrome isn't that great at blocking popups, even with Adblock. It's one of the few things I miss about Firefox. With this in mind, Better Pop Up Blocker is simply awesome. It's not perfect, but hey, no popups. :D
I recommend switching from the default mode to 'blacklist' mode, where you blacklist individual websites from displaying popups, instead of blocking everything at once. With the default mode on, a lot of websites don't load properly. This includes Twitter, Facebook, Amazon, Pandora, and Mediafire. But once you change this setting, everything works great. I couldn't ask for more.
