Banana Split splits a group's expenses and works out who owes what, automatically. Enter what each person paid, and the app keeps live balances for everyone and suggests the fewest transfers to settle up. Built first for trips with friends, it also fits shared flats, couples and group dinners.
Log an expense in seconds
The amount, who paid, who's in: the expense is logged before the waiter comes back with your card. Several people paid the bill? One expense can have multiple payers. Every expense keeps its date and time, a note and a photo of the receipt.
Splits that fit real life
Equal shares, exact amounts, percentages or shares, adjusted with a slider. Sort expenses by category and by payment method (card, cash, transfer), add a note, and photograph the receipt: the app reads the total and every line, so you can assign each item to whoever had it, all on the phone.
Recurring expenses
Rent, streaming, the gym: set them up once and they create themselves every week, fortnight, month or year.
See clearly
Balances update the second an expense is logged, and everyone sees the same tally. The Individual View shows only your share of each expense, your total and your balance, and a per-person view details who paid for what and when.
Settle up
The app works out the minimal set of transfers so everyone is repaid and the accounts end at zero. Trips abroad are covered: more than 40 currencies are supported, and the Premium subscription lets one event mix several currencies, converted automatically. Tap Pay back once a transfer is done and the balances update for everyone.
Share and work together
Share the event by link so everyone adds their own expenses in real time, or manage the whole group on your own: not everyone needs the app. A flatmate moves out or a friend leaves the trip halfway? Set them inactive, their history and balances stay. Export the accounts by email.
No account, works offline
No sign-up is needed. The app works offline and syncs when you are back online.
Who it is for
Friends on a trip or a weekend away, flatmates sharing rent and groceries, couples running a shared budget, and any group where people front money for each other. Most groups split equally, but every expense stays adjustable the moment one stands out.
About the app
Made in France by an independent developer since 2012. Free on iPhone and Android, with an optional Premium subscription that removes ads and adds multiple currencies within a single event. The app speaks English, French, German, Italian, Portuguese and Spanish.
