What is Backbeat Forge?
Backbeat Forge is a local desktop workbench for turning a full mix, an isolated drum stem, or existing drum MIDI into an editable five-line drum score. It keeps the score synchronized with source playback so musicians can verify detected hits against the original performance instead of treating automatic transcription as a finished black box.
Edit kit pieces, timing, velocity, and articulations; compare the notation with the original audio and separated stems; then save the complete session as a .bforge project. Reviewed scores can be exported as print-ready PDF and General MIDI for notation software or production workflows.
The Community Edition is free and provides the core local workflow. An optional permanent desktop unlock adds advanced project and export capabilities. Audio and projects remain on the user’s computer.
