What is Autodesk Inventor?
Autodesk Inventor is a computer-aided design (CAD) software application that is primarily used for 3D mechanical design, simulation, visualization, and documentation. This professional-grade 3D CAD software is designed to cater to the needs of product design and engineering, providing a range of design capabilities. These include parametric, direct, freeform, and rules-based design options. Additionally, Autodesk Inventor comes with integrated simulation and CAM tools.
The software includes a 'Section View' feature that allows the definition to persist in the design view representation. Users can conveniently edit their section views or suppress the section by interacting with the view representation node. Moreover, the software provides control over the end cap preview during the section view plane dragging process, which is automatically turned off if the assembly consists of 500 parts or more.
Autodesk Inventor also boasts advanced graphics capabilities. Previously, Inventor Studio had a maximum rendering output of 4096 x 4096 pixels. This limitation has been lifted, allowing Inventor Studio to render images up to a resolution of 16K x 16K, depending on the capacity of the user's graphics card. The software also supports custom environment image workflows, including the use of custom HDR and EXR images with IBL lighting styles for both CPU and GPU ray tracing. Furthermore, GPU ray tracing now supports rendering with IBL backgrounds. Lastly, the software allows users to set "Perspective With Ortho Faces" as the default view setting in both Document Settings and Application options.
