What is Ara 3D Gen?

Ara 3D Gen is a free, open-source tool for creating realistic, game-ready 3D human characters. It runs entirely in the web browser with no account, credits or export limits, and can also be self-hosted for offline use and batch generation from the command line.

Characters are built on the CC0 MakeHuman dataset, with over 900 morph targets, 219 detail sliders and photo-based skins. You can shape the body, mix ethnicities, and dress characters in mix-and-match clothing, uniforms and cultural garments (including kente, aso-oke, ankara and adire fabrics). Hairstyles include cornrows, box braids and a punk mohawk, alongside beards, tattoos and earrings. It comes with 19 presets and one-click random characters.

Every character is automatically rigged with Mixamo-compatible bone names, so it works with Unity Humanoid, Unreal Engine and Godot. It includes 39 animations: walking, running, turns, jumps, combat, emotes, and full rifle, pistol and sword sets. Weapons attach to a hand socket bone.

Export as GLB, FBX, OBJ or a ZIP bundle: static, rigged, or rigged with animations, in one file or one file per clip. Characters can be shared as a link that reopens the exact character.

The code is MIT-licensed and the character assets are CC0, so exports can be used commercially without attribution.
