Apache Storm Alternatives

Apache Storm is described as 'free and open source distributed realtime computation system. Storm makes it easy to reliably process unbounded streams of data, doing for realtime processing what Hadoop did for batch processing'. There are five alternatives to Apache Storm for a variety of platforms, including Linux, Mac, Windows, Online / Web-based and BSD. The best alternative is Apache Spark, which is both free and Open Source. Other great apps like Apache Storm are Apache Flink (Free, Open Source), Amazon Kinesis (Paid), Heron (Free, Open Source) and Gearpump (Free, Open Source).

    1. Apache Spark™ is a fast and general engine for large-scale data processing. Speed Run programs up to 100x faster than Hadoop MapReduce in memory, or 10x faster on disk. Spark has an advanced DAG execution engine that supports cyclic data flow and in-memory computing.
    2. Flink’s core is a streaming dataflow engine that provides data distribution, communication, and fault tolerance for distributed computations over data streams.
