Ant is described as 'Apache Ant is an Open Source Java-based build tool (for software development). It uses XML files to describe, structure and control the build process. Most actions are described as 'Tasks' - Ant offers a library of built-in Tasks, but various 3rd party Tasks and Task' and is an app in the development category. There are more than 25 alternatives to Ant for a variety of platforms, including Linux, Windows, Mac, BSD and Android apps. The best Ant alternative is CMake, which is both free and Open Source. Other great apps like Ant are GNU Make, Maven, Gradle and SCons.
