In my experience years ago, both in USA and Mexico, worst airbnbs have been more dangerous than the worst motels.
Airbnb has increasingly moved away from the original homestay idea toward hosts, who never actually live in that same property but use it only to generate revenue. For many years already, "homestay" is not an accurate description for a huge proportion of their offers.
