AccuraCite is a citation verification and hallucination-detection tool for anyone working with AI-assisted research writing — researchers, students, peer reviewers, and journal editors.
It cross-checks every citation against 7 academic databases (OpenAlex, Crossref, Semantic Scholar, PubMed, DBLP, arXiv, and CORE), confirming that a citation isn't just formatted correctly but actually exists, matches the paper it claims to cite, and hasn't been retracted since publication. A separate tool finds real, claim-relevant sources when you need a citation to back up a specific statement — checking that the source's abstract genuinely supports the claim, not just that it's topically related.
In an independently published benchmark against 933 test citations (including ones deliberately constructed to be hard to catch), AccuraCite caught 99.4% of fabricated references. The full dataset and methodology are public.
Free tier: 50 credits/month, no credit card required. Paid plans add higher limits, PDF upload, and bulk verification for reviewing full reference lists at once.
