What is Awesome Emoji Picker?
Modern, nice emoji picker that you can use to find 🔎 and select emojis. 😀 It will be copied to your clipboard 📋 or even directly inserted into the page, when you click 🖱? on it.
This add-on provides you with a modern emoji picker that you can use to find and select emojis (i.e. the emoticons/smileys you know from messengers such as 😃, 😎 or 🤪). You can copy them into your clipboard or insert them into the active page. It uses up-to-date Emojis and let's you access your Emojis in different styles you know from different devices and applications.
You can then use the emojis on almost any web page, including your favorite messenger (such as WhatsApp, Telegram, Threema, Signal, Wire etc.), social media (Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, Mastodon etc.) and even e-mails.
It will remember your recently used emojis across sites. Additionally it may often be faster than the emoji picker on the website itself.
It is based on the awesome project emoji-mart. You can test many features on the website there already, without installing it.
It uses up-to-date Emojis and let's you access your Emojis in different styles you know from different devices and applications. It supports Apple, Google, Twitter, EmojiOne or just the native style your browser uses.

I wanted to be able to quickly input emojis instead of copy/pasting them from Google, and this does that. 😍👍❗
Wish I could select the nth item matching my search string though. If I don't know the exact name then I have to keep guessing? Oof. 😔

The feature you requested in your second part is possibly already tracked in https://github.com/rugk/awesome-emoji-picker/issues/41 (keyboard navigation) and may indeed be added in the future. Otherwise, just click on the emoji you want to add or use the new search in the address bar to find emojis, see https://github.com/rugk/awesome-emoji-picker/wiki/FAQ#how-to-use-the-address-bar-to-search-for-emojis.
