Snapchat is making it easier to organize IRL events and meetups with your friends
Snapchat is rolling out a new feature designed to help users transition digital conversations into real-world meet-ups. The company has announced “Snapchat Plans”, a dedicated toolset allowing users to create, share, and manage in-person gatherings directly within the platform where chats already happen. The feature addresses what Snapchat identified as a common friction point: keeping track of event details scattered across messaging threads. According to the company, 35% of recently surveyed U.S. Snapchatters ages 13–24 already use group chat to make plans, suggesting strong existing demand for built-in organization tools.
The new system lets users add event titles, select dates and times, and invite up to 200 friends, with RSVP options including “Going”, “Maybe”, or “Can't Go”. A distinctive element is the dynamic Bitmoji-powered cover art that updates as plans evolve. Organizers can monitor attendance, send additional invites, or modify details on the fly, while guests receive reminders one hour before events begin. All plans are housed in a new “My Plans” section on user profiles, with a corresponding “Our Plans” area visible on friendship profiles to highlight shared events. Snapchat emphasized that plans remain private and invite-only, maintaining the platform's focus on close friendships. The company added that creating events directly within individual chats will arrive as a future enhancement.
