Inoreader introduces mentions, a redesigned search, and smarter monitoring feeds

Inoreader has rolled out a significant upgrade to its newsfeed platform, introducing a new mentions feature alongside redesigned search and monitoring feed capabilities. The update enables the RSS aggregator to identify real-world entities, including companies, products, places, and public figures, within articles and connect them to enhanced discovery, filtering, and monitoring tools. According to the announcement, the mentions feature distinguishes between actual entities and ambiguous keywords, allowing users to build more precise queries and reduce irrelevant matches in their content streams.

The redesigned article search now offers a cleaner interface that spans multiple data sources, including personal newsfeeds, folders, tags, saved items, annotations, uploads, and intelligence reports, with an option to explore all public feeds beyond a user's existing subscriptions. Users can create monitoring feeds through a newly guided flow, where the system suggests adding terms as either keywords or mentions depending on entity availability.

Mentions functionality is currently available to all Inoreader Pro users as part of the Inoreader Intelligence suite. The update represents a strategic move toward entity-aware content monitoring, addressing a longstanding limitation in RSS readers where keyword searches often capture unrelated content due to word ambiguity.
