CleanShot X 5.0 introduces Studio Mode to turn a screen recording into a polished video
CleanShot X 5.0 is a major macOS release for screenshot capture and screen recording. It introduces Studio Mode, a new workspace and video editor for preparing screen recordings after they are captured. The workspace brings post-capture changes into the workflow before export.
Within Studio Mode, users can add smart zooms that follow the cursor and direct attention to on-screen activity. The editor can trim mistakes and smooth shaky cursor movement, making recordings easier to follow. It also supports visual emphasis and basic correction before export.
After those edits, users can apply motion blur to cursor movement for a smoother visual effect. Recordings can also use custom backgrounds, a capability previously associated with screenshots.
Following export preparation, users can adjust cursor size, keystrokes, and camera settings after recording without starting a new capture. CleanShot X 5.0 uses Mac-optimized hardware encoding for faster video rendering and export.
Alongside recording workflow changes, the release redesigns the app's settings experience with a cleaner, more modern interface.
