TeamSpeak 6 will finally introduce direct calls, 4K screen sharing, and picture-in-picture
TeamSpeak 6, now in beta, is being described by its developers as the platform’s most substantial revision yet. Active beta testing began in January 2025, progressing through multiple builds. Building on its established voice communication core, TeamSpeak will soon add direct 1-1 calling, allowing two people to connect without joining or setting up a server. The direct call feature is under active development and not live yet, but the team promises its arrival is imminent.
Expanding on direct calls, TeamSpeak is introducing integrated screen sharing, which supports sharing screens, games, or webcam feeds at up to 4K resolution or source quality. Users can choose quick setup presets or manually configure resolution, bitrate, frame rate, and audio settings. Server-side screen sharing is also in development, suggesting future expansion to group contexts. Alongside these tools, a picture-in-picture mode has been added. By holding Shift, users can drag up to four shares or camera feeds into a call window and arrange them as needed.
For those wishing to try these updates ahead of release, the TeamSpeak 6 beta server can be self-hosted using Docker. This setup enables screen sharing and streaming directly within channels, making upcoming features available for group testing.
