Portainer 2.45 LTS adds add-ons, GitOps workflows, security policies and improved alerting

Portainer has released version 2.45 as its latest long-term support (LTS) release. Its main addition is Portainer add-ons, installable applications that run alongside Portainer in a local Kubernetes cluster. The first add-on, Portainer-Run, offers UI-based deployment of applications and internal tools without Dockerfiles or Kubernetes manifests.

For GitOps, version 2.45 adds a workflows' dashboard for Docker, Edge, and Kubernetes workloads deployed from Git repositories. A dedicated sources view lists every external Git source connected to a Portainer instance.

On environment governance, Banner and Custom Change Confirmation policy can display custom text and colors across environment groups. The release also adds Kubernetes security policies and automation through the official Terraform provider.

For monitoring, alerting is now generally available, with selected alert types supporting critical, warning, and info thresholds. A Kubernetes observability policy connects Portainer to OneUptime, bringing logs and metrics into the namespace details view.

Alongside these changes, the home page has been refreshed and gains a Recommendations view. Other updates include better GPU visibility, a restructured Kubernetes volumes page, Docker image cleanup, backup options, KubeSolo edge environments, and a dedicated node shell.
