postmarketOS introduces KDE Plasma 6.7, better USB gadget handling, and Waydroid updates

postmarketOS has released a new update that introduces KDE Plasma 6.7, bringing the latest version of this desktop and mobile environment to mobile Linux devices. This release arrives soon after KDE Plasma 6.7 was introduced to Alpine Linux, fitting naturally into postmarketOS due to its Alpine Linux base.

In parallel, the update delivers a significant change in USB gadget management. The usb-moded package has been completely rewritten in Rust and renamed to usb-signaller. It now provides more stable gadget initialization, no longer depends on initramfs or scripts, supports transactional mode switching, offers clearer logging, and better manages situations with missing kernel drivers such as chargers. OpenRC support is also included. However, features like USB role switching and cable status detection are not yet available.

Following these core updates, Waydroid is now compatible with Duranium via sysext. For systems supporting EFI variables, Duranium leverages systemd/bootctl for bootloader updates, retaining a fallback bootloader that can be automatically used if the latest bootloader fails.

The latest update also introduces several other improvements to the postmarketOS mobile Linux distribution.
