Geekbench 7 launches with new workloads to measure the performance of your CPUs and GPUs

Geekbench 7 has been released as the latest version of the cross-platform system benchmark, introducing a range of new and updated workloads aimed at measuring real-world device performance. The new version features updated media tasks designed to assess CPU handling of audio and video encoding, decoding, and processing, closely reflecting everyday use cases like video conferencing, screen sharing, and digital media consumption.

Building on these changes, Geekbench 7 adds a Game Physics workload utilizing the Jolt Physics engine, which is employed in various popular video games. The update also expands the Photo Editor workload with more real-world editing tasks and enhances the Photo Library benchmark to support modern image formats such as JPEG XL and DNG, broadening its coverage for contemporary workflows.

Following improvements to core workloads, the multi-core benchmark system has been redesigned. Workloads now only run in multi-threaded mode if their real-world counterparts do, producing more accurate and relevant multi-core scores. On the graphics side, GPU benchmarks shift their emphasis toward tasks found in machine learning and modern content creation, adding workloads like RAW image processing, LUT-based video color grading, path tracing, and fluid simulation. CUDA now joins OpenCL, Vulkan, and Metal as supported graphics APIs. Finally, all benchmark data sets have been refreshed to better reflect the complexity and variety of current user files.
