DokuWiki “Mort” adds Markdown parsing, rewritten full-text search index & PHP 8.2+ support
DokuWiki's latest release, code-named “Mort”, introduces several new features and updated requirements for this open source wiki software. The application now mandates PHP 8.2 or above, bringing it up to date with current server standards. Users can opt for a native Markdown parser through the new syntax setting, although traditional DokuWiki syntax remains enabled by default. In addition, the full-text search index has been fully rewritten, promising improved speed and reliability.
Alongside these updates, code and file blocks gain a copy-to-clipboard button for easier copying. While the media manager now previews WEBP images, it also resolves past issues with EXIF-rotated images appearing cropped in previews. Updated backend and security features include the ability to disable the diff/compare action, improved feed caching to limit cache flooding, and the introduction of a specific Referrer-Policy header for increased control over outgoing requests.
Following UI and workflow improvements, the editor, toolbar pickers, login form, and extension manager are more accessible. The new release also includes various security updates, bug fixes, and dependency upgrades as part of ongoing maintenance efforts. Some deprecated search and parser features have been removed, and the realip setting has been replaced with a new client_ip_header option for advanced configuration.
