WooCommerce 10.9 brings performance improvements, cleaner admin screens, and email logging

WooCommerce 10.9 has been released as the latest version of the open-source e-commerce platform for WordPress. This update introduces multiple performance improvements in the checkout workflow and product queries. The Store API now creates persisted draft orders later during checkout, reducing unnecessary draft orders from shoppers who abandon their carts. Query-related updates further lower the number of repeated checkout saves, streamline product filter queries, and reduce database load on shop and admin product pages.

Following these performance enhancements, WooCommerce 10.9 adds built-in transactional email logging. Administrators can now review send attempts and email failures directly from the WooCommerce status logs, making troubleshooting easier without the need for third-party plugins.

Building on the focus of platform extensibility, this release also rebuilds canonical WooCommerce domain abilities for product and order management. The same capabilities pattern is now adopted across WooCommerce extensions, allowing for read-only access to data like subscriptions, payment accounts, shipping settings, product add-ons, and marketing status, especially useful for MCP abilities.

To support a more streamlined user experience, WooCommerce admin screens now offer a more consistent look and feel. Updates include a refined admin header, improved dashboard usability on smaller screens, a unified modal visual style, and the removal of the task list reminder bar from most pages.
