Inkscape 1.4.4 delivers performance enhancements and installation files for Windows on ARM
Inkscape 1.4.4 is now available as the latest version of this free and open-source vector graphics editor. This stable release focuses on improved reliability, addressing numerous crashes and bugs while boosting performance when managing many objects in complex vector files.
Expanding on previous efforts, this update resolves 20 crash issues, including several that prevented the application from starting at all, and nearly 20 additional bugs. Six further changes focus on streamlining operations and enhancing performance, which experienced users may particularly notice with larger or more intricate designs.
Alongside stability improvements, Inkscape 1.4.4 introduces a new palette and a button that enables stars and polygons to be rotated into their neutral or upright position, refining the design workflow for shape-heavy illustrations. The update also brings installation files for Windows devices running on ARM architecture, expanding hardware compatibility for users on new platforms.
Following these feature and platform enhancements, the release includes 27 updated interface translations and 15 updated documentation translations, broadening usability for non-English speakers. Like its predecessor, Inkscape 1.4.4 acts as a bridge by allowing conversion from the future 1.5 multipage file format to formats compatible with earlier versions.
