Substack adds note scheduling, post templates, drop caps, new livestream options, and more

Substack introduces a series of updates aimed at improving publishing workflows and customization. Users can now schedule notes to publish at specific times across web, iOS, and Android, providing greater flexibility for timing content releases. For long-form writers, the platform now allows creation and reuse of post templates directly within the editor; this feature is useful for recurring structural elements such as calls to action, disclaimers, and code blocks.

Expanding on video content, Substack Live now enables contributors and admins to schedule livestreams for other creators, assign which publication to broadcast from, and update stream details like title, timing, host, and notification settings after scheduling. Access to stream keys is also streamlined for contributors, admins, owners, and hosts.

Following these workflow enhancements, Substack adds new visual customization options. Publishers can enable drop caps in the website editor to stylize the opening letter of posts. The subscribe block now supports custom colors, logos, and individually tailored messages for different member types. Additionally, callout blocks let writers set apart key text in distinctive containers within posts. Lastly, the “show less” control in the feed is now more visible and easier to use.
