Spotify introduces video controls, letting you turn off all videos on the platform

Spotify has launched new global video controls, enabling users to choose between an audio-first experience or a video-enhanced session on the platform. This update allows listeners to tailor how they engage with videos across music, podcasts, and audiobooks.

Expanding on existing features, Family Plan managers now have the ability to control video content for all member accounts, not just those for users under 13. This enhancement addresses privacy and content management needs for broader families. In addition, new settings allow every Spotify subscriber, including Premium, Basic, and Free users on Individual, Duo, Family, or Student plans, to manage how videos display in their app.

Following these updates, the settings rollout will begin globally this month. These changes apply across mobile, desktop, web, TV, and other platforms supported by Spotify. To find the new controls, users should navigate to Content and display in the settings, where options for Canvas visuals and music or podcast videos can be toggled on or off. However, video advertisements and Canvas-like visuals may continue to appear for certain audio ads, regardless of the selected video settings.
