Firefox 150 brings split view upgrades, GTK emoji picker support, and 271 security fixes
Mozilla has released Firefox 150, introducing major updates for tab management and productivity. The enhanced split view feature lets users right-click any link and open it beside their current tab, search open tabs before splitting the view, and reverse tab positions through a new context menu option. Sharing workflows have improved as well: users can now select several tabs, copy their links with both page titles and URLs, and paste them into other applications in a single step. Building on these changes, the built-in PDF editor now supports reordering, copying, pasting, deleting, and exporting pages within documents.
This release brings real-time, private translations accessible from about:translations and provides a quick-action shortcut when typing “translate” in the URL bar. Security also receives attention, with 271 vulnerabilities fixed using results from Claude Mythos. On Linux, users benefit from support for the GTK emoji picker and the introduction of an official .rpm package for users on Red Hat, Fedora, openSUSE, and related operating systems.
Windows users installing through the Microsoft Store can now use Firefox web apps. The updated profile management system, including profile backup to file, is now accessible to all on Windows 10 and 11. Firefox also now prompts for location access setup across all supported Windows versions. Additionally, the Firefox built-in VPN rolls out to users in Canada, expanding beyond its previous availability.
