Spotify's new SongDNA feature lets you deep dive into music's creation and collaborations
Spotify has launched SongDNA, an immersive music experience integrated into the now playing view for mobile users. By tapping the SongDNA card, listeners can access detailed information about a song’s writers, producers, collaborators, the samples and interpolations that shaped its sound, and even covers it has inspired.
Building on this, SongDNA allows users to tap on any listed creator to discover other artists they have worked with, and to trace further collaborations across different tracks, eras, and genres. These interactive pathways offer listeners a deeper understanding of how their music came together.
The connections displayed in SongDNA are based on inputs from artists, their teams, and additional community-sourced data. Eligible artists and label teams can review and directly manage their SongDNA content through Spotify for Artists, providing greater accuracy and control over musical storytelling.
While SongDNA extends the About the Song feature by enabling explorative, multi-faceted discovery, it is currently available in beta for Spotify premium users on iOS and Android devices. The broader rollout to all premium subscribers is planned throughout April.
