Marknote 1.5 adds source mode, note links, better note management, and KRunner integration
Marknote 1.5 has been released as the latest version of this free and open source rich note-taking app. This update introduces a dedicated source mode, allowing users to toggle from the standard rich-text interface into direct Markdown editing. This feature, highly requested by the community, provides flexibility for those who prefer working with raw syntax.
Building on the aim to serve as a robust knowledge base, Marknote now supports internal wiki-style links with cross-notebook lookup. This makes it easier to link related documents, helping users create a connected network of ideas while maintaining a clean, distraction-free interface.
To streamline organization, users can now move notes between notebooks using drag-and-drop, view note counts for each notebook, and duplicate notes for quick template creation. Following these usability upgrades, a new KRunner plugin enables instant access to notes from the Plasma desktop, eliminating the need to open Marknote separately.
Alongside these workflow improvements, Marknote 1.5 introduces full-text search and replace to simplify finding and updating information. Rounding out the release, enhancements such as new animations, improved table formatting, and interface refinements deliver a smoother user experience.
