KeePass 2.61 adds diacritic-insensitive search, async updates, improved OTP tools and more
KeePass 2.61 has been released as the latest version of this free and open-source password manager. This update introduces a new Match diacritics option within the Find dialog. By default, searches ignore diacritical marks, improving accessibility for users managing diverse credentials. Update checks now begin before a database is opened, provided the appropriate setting is enabled. If a new version is found, a banner appears within the master key prompt dialog to alert users before login proceeds.
Building on these changes, several enhancements target the one-time password workflow. Pasting a shared secret into the generator settings now removes whitespace for Base16/Hex, Base32, or Base64 encodings, reducing input errors. Additional buttons allow users to directly copy the current one-time password to the clipboard. Additionally, settings for history entries are now viewable in the one-time password dialog, aiding audit and review tasks.
Synchronizing databases sees efficiency gains: when saving locally during the final phase of a sync, data is now copied to all other involved files or URLs, which is typically faster than previous methods. The synchronize trigger action has expanded to allow multiple targets in a single operation by specifying multiple files or URLs, and offers new On error - Silent and On error - Continue options. Entering an incorrect master key during export now allows repeated attempts, consistent with unlocking the main database. This update also provides various enhancements and bug fixes.
