Cryptee introduces end-to-end encrypted photo and video sharing
Cryptee has introduced end-to-end encrypted photo and video sharing, letting paid users share albums through links while keeping the content inaccessible to Cryptee and third parties. The feature was developed over several years with input from advocacy groups and experts across Europe, as the company worked through legal concerns and questions around large scale abuse.
To reduce misuse, encrypted sharing is limited to paid users and albums can only be shared with up to five recipients. Invite links expire after 48 hours, and each recipient must verify their email with a one time token before getting access. Once verified, recipients can browse shared albums, download individual files, select multiple items, or download everything at once. Senders can also revoke access at any time, see which recipients accepted the invite, and optionally share the encryption key separately for extra control.
Cryptee Docs also now supports markdown paste, automatically converting pasted markdown into styled text while sanitizing it for security. The update also improves code block handling with fold and unfold controls plus one click copying. In addition, Cryptee says the release includes many smaller improvements, better support for Appleโs Liquid Glass design, and updated terms and privacy policy covering content sharing responsibilities and related data processing.
