Claude's memory feature lets you import your preferences & context from other AI providers

Anthropic now lets users import their preferences and context from other artificial intelligence providers into Claude. This update enables individuals who have spent time training another AI to bring that context over, so starting with Claude will be as familiar as continuing with their old provider.

With a single copy-and-paste, Claude updates its memory and is able to pick up where the user left off elsewhere. The process begins by copying a specially crafted prompt into a conversation with the previous AI provider. Users then transfer the generated context into Claude’s memory settings, making the switch fast and straightforward.

Following this import process, Claude continues learning user preferences across future conversations. It also maintains separation between project contexts, ensuring that details from unrelated projects do not mix. Additionally, users have the ability to view and edit all information Claude remembers, introducing further transparency and control.

These memory and import features are available to all users with a paid Claude plan. This supports those considering a transition from another platform and maintains continuity in their AI interactions.

What a privacy nightmare. Please, don't ever write any sensitive info into an AI chatbot for them to train on and sell.

I'm starting to see a major trend with the combination of semantic search and AI "memory". In large query databases like mine, it is a remarkable feeling to ask it a question about something that took hours to write... only for it to perfectly comprehend the entire thread in an instant. It is nothing short of science fiction.

Look up "Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG)" and semantic search for more info!
