Substack brings improved design editing, recipe embeds, and expanded livestream scheduling
Substack has rolled out several updates to provide publishers with greater control over content presentation and audience engagement. The platform’s theme editor now allows users to resize and reposition their wordmark, select custom welcome page colors, and reorder sidebar modules using drag-and-drop. Editing the homepage experience is also easier, as publishers can now adjust any homepage section simply by clicking its preview, while a new undo option helps reverse saved changes quickly.
Following these publishing controls, Substack has introduced recipe embeds in beta. This feature provides a structured format for sharing recipes within posts, including support for images, title and description, preparation and cook times, ingredient lists, detailed directions, and descriptive tags. Each embed automatically generates metadata, improving both reader usability and search engine visibility. This aims to help creators who share recipes reach new audiences more efficiently.
Alongside these content updates, Substack has enabled scheduling for livestreams on Android and desktop. Scheduled streams now come with auto-generated RSVP links, allowing subscribers to add events directly to their calendars and promote them across Substack and social media. This change gives creators more time to build anticipation before going live.
