Google rolls out Gemini 3.1 Pro with 2× improved reasoning for tackling complex tasks

Google is expanding the Gemini 3 series with the release of Gemini 3.1 Pro, aiming to address modern challenges across science, research, and engineering. Following last week's Gemini 3 Deep Think update, this version delivers new core intelligence enhancements meant to advance breakthrough applications in these fields.

Effective today, Gemini 3.1 Pro is available to developers, enterprises, and consumers. Developers can access it via Gemini API in Google AI Studio, Gemini CLI, the Antigravity agentic development platform, and Android Studio. For enterprises, the release is accessible in Vertex AI and Gemini Enterprise. Meanwhile, consumers can use Gemini 3.1 Pro through the Gemini app and NotebookLM.

While building on the existing capabilities of Gemini 3, the 3.1 Pro update sets a higher baseline for reasoning and complex problem-solving. The model is intended for scenarios where simple answers are insufficient, offering support for advanced use cases such as visual explanations, data synthesis for single-view insights, and creative project assistance. These improvements extend the impact of Gemini's intelligence to a wide range of practical and demanding applications.
