Google Maps expands Gemini's hand-free AI navigation to walking and cycling worldwide

Google is expanding Gemini’s hands-free conversational navigation in Maps beyond driving, adding support for walking and cycling routes. With this update, users can ask Gemini contextual questions such as, “What neighborhood am I in?” or request restaurant recommendations along their walking route, leveraging up-to-date real world information from Maps.

For those traveling by bicycle, Gemini enables users to focus on the road while receiving voice responses about estimated time of arrival and meeting schedules. Cyclists can also send hands-free text messages, allowing communication without having to stop or release their grip on the handlebars.

These features are rolling out worldwide on both iOS and Android platforms wherever Gemini is available, increasing access to AI-powered assistance for more users across different travel scenarios.

I've never used Google for that because I like to talk to people for my local info.
