/e/OS 3.5 released with LineageOS 22.2 base, WebAssembly support, and FairPhone 6 upgrades
/e/OS 3.5 has been released as the latest update of this open-source Android experience focused on user privacy by excluding all Google apps and services. This update is based on LineageOS 22.2 and incorporates recent bug fixes and security patches, offering a more secure and stable platform for users.
Building on web technology improvements, version 3.5 enables WebAssembly by default for new users, supporting better performance in modern web applications. The integrated web browser has also been updated to version 144.0.7559.109, providing improvements in speed and compatibility alongside the new WebAssembly support.
For those using the Fairphone 6, several device-specific enhancements are available. Users can now toggle between fast and slow charging speeds, mirroring the option in the Fairphone's stock operating system. The “Tap to wake” feature has been enabled for greater convenience. In addition, settings for Fairphone Moments offer improved translations, and switch action options benefit from clearer language. Additionally, the Fairphone camera now automatically receives the necessary permissions when first launched, reducing friction for users.
These updates are accompanied by multiple bug fixes aimed at improving the overall stability and reliability of the operating system.
