WhatsApp rolls out new group chat features: member tags, text stickers and event reminders
WhatsApp is rolling out three new features to enhance group chat communication and personalization. Users can now assign themselves customizable tags within each group, allowing distinct roles or identities depending on the chat, such as AlternativeTo admin in one and Jim's brother in another.
Following these identity enhancements, the platform introduces a new way to create stickers. Users can convert any word into a sticker using Sticker Search and add their latest creations directly to their sticker packs. This option removes the step of sending the sticker to a chat first, streamlining the process for those who frequently use custom stickers.
Building on these upgrades, WhatsApp now allows group event creators to set custom early reminders for invitees. This update aims to help group members stay informed and punctual for upcoming gatherings, whether the event is a physical get-together or an online call.
These additions complement earlier group chat features such as large file sharing up to 2 GB, high-definition media sharing, screen sharing, and voice chats, all designed to foster group collaboration and communication.
