OpenProject 17.0 brings real-time document collaboration, improved meetings, and much more
OpenProject 17.0 is now available, marking a major release for this open source project management solution. With this version, teams can collaborate on documents in real time, allowing multiple users to edit and view changes simultaneously within OpenProject. This centralizes teamwork and supports shared idea development.
Building on document collaboration, meeting management undergoes notable enhancements. The new features include draft and presentation modes, as well as support for multiple text-based outcomes, making it easier to document decisions and next steps directly in meeting records. Additionally, participants can now subscribe to meetings using iCal, letting them track schedules through their personal calendar tools.
Following changes in user experience, the redesigned project home is now divided into two dedicated tabs, separating high-level project information from operational details. The project creation process features a clearer template selection that guides users, reducing setup errors even for those without technical expertise.
For organizations managing complex initiatives, OpenProject 17.0 enables grouping related projects into programs and portfolios, providing an overview aligned with strategic goals and progress tracking. In addition, the SharePoint and OneDrive integrations have been separated, supporting more restricted and transparent permission management for connected content.
