GitLab 18.8 makes Duo Platform, Duo Planner, and Duo Security Analyst generally available

GitLab version 18.8 launches with a series of new features and improvements designed for software development teams. The highlight of this release is the general availability of the GitLab Duo Agent Platform, which enables agentic artificial intelligence orchestration throughout the software development lifecycle. Teams can now coordinate AI agents for planning, building, securing, and delivering software directly within GitLab.

Building on these AI capabilities, the Planner Agent is now generally available and designed to assist product managers. This foundational agent lets users create, edit, and analyze work items, streamlining workflow management inside the platform. Alongside this, engineers can now leverage the Duo Security Analyst Agent, which has moved from beta to general availability, to control vulnerabilities through natural language in GitLab Duo Agentic Chat.

Following the agent updates, GitLab 18.8 gives security teams the ability to set policies for automatically dismissing vulnerabilities that do not affect their organization. This policy-driven approach aims to reduce unnecessary alerts and allow developers to focus on real risks. This release also includes various additional enhancements, further supporting users across their development processes.
