tldraw SDK 4.0 adds five new starter kits, CLI tool, and enforces licensing changes
tldraw has released SDK 4.0, the latest version of its infinite canvas platform for web applications. The update introduces five new starter kits—agent, workflow, branching chat, chat, and multiplayer—covering use cases such as chatbots, collaborative whiteboards, workflow tools, and image annotation. A new CLI tool available via npm helps developers quickly generate projects using these templates, with all kits licensed under MIT for flexible use and modification.
The release also changes the licensing model: development use remains free, but production deployments now require a license key. Developers can obtain a free 100-day trial license, and teams signing a one-year commercial license before the end of 2025 will receive discounts based on their remaining trial period.
SDK 4.0 further enhances accessibility, achieving compliance with WCAG 2.2 AA standards in collaboration with Sarah Fossheim. A VPAT will be published soon, and the update also includes general fixes, performance improvements, and updated documentation for developers.
