Immich 1.141 improves beta timeline, adds similar photo search & DigitalOcean deployment
Immich 1.141 is now available, bringing new features and improvements to this self-hosted, open source platform for photo and video management. The standout update is the return of the auto-add uploaded assets to albums feature in the beta timeline. Now, albums selected for backup are directly linked to their server counterparts by name, or a new album is created if one does not exist. All uploaded assets are automatically placed in the corresponding linked album, streamlining organization.
On the web interface, users benefit from a new option to search for visually or contextually similar photos and videos while viewing an asset. This capability leverages CLIP search technology to identify images with related scenery or content, enhancing browsing and discovery.
For those interested in testing Immich without deploying their own infrastructure, the project now offers a direct deployment option on DigitalOcean. This setup launches an Immich instance on the default smallest pod size with an included reverse proxy managing Transport Layer Security (TLS) out of the box.
In addition to these key changes, Immich 1.141 brings a range of further enhancements and notable bug fixes aimed at refining stability and overall user experience.
