ForkLift 4.4.1 brings improved tab restoration, reliable icon previews, and more
BinaryNights has released ForkLift 4.4.1, an update to its macOS dual pane file manager and file transfer client. The headline feature is improved workflow continuity: ForkLift now restores all tabs after a restart, including those containing remote connections. This means users can immediately resume their previous session without manually reconnecting to different servers.
Following these workflow enhancements, the update addresses a persistent issue where icon previews would disappear in List View at the 32 pixel size. Icon thumbnails now remain consistently visible, even when scrolling through large directories, improving file identification. Additionally, users handling Japanese or Chinese filenames benefit from corrected handling of full-width whitespace characters in terminal style paths. Paths with these characters now copy properly and function as expected when pasted into a terminal.
Additionally, ForkLift 4.4.1 now remembers whether favorite groups in the sidebar are shown or hidden using the sidebar editor. This preference is retained after restarting the app, providing a more reliable customization experience. The update also includes several refinements such as subtle layout adjustments, improved icon alignment, and the removal of obsolete macOS Tahoe-style menu icons.
